Literary Analysis: Understanding Cultural Alienation and the Individual in American Society
In this paper we have examined the similarities and differences in alienated segments of the American cultural population. By understanding racial stigma, as well as the counter culture aspects of BurroughsÂ’ perception of the world through drug usage, we can reveal the aspects alienation that occurs in American society. Through these many literary works, race, culture and identity have been explored to offer an examination of life outside of the white American hegemony in society.
