General A.P. Hill at Gettysburg: An Analysis of Leadership
This five page undergraduate paper examines the objectives, strategies, and results of General A.P. Hill at Gettysburg. The author notes that Hill is fully deserving of his historical reputation as one of the greatest military commanders of the Confederacy. But in examining the objectives, strategies, and results of A. P. Hill at the Battle of Gettysburg, it is evident that during these fateful three days in July of 1863, HillÂ’s strategic objective of defeating the Union Army through superior tactical maneuvering could not be attained because of early Confederate tactical failures on the first day of the battle.
