Military Power in Pursuit of National Interests: A Comprehensive Analysis.
This thirty-page graduate paper examines the use of military power in pursuit of national interests. Using the National Interest Matrix introduced by Donald E. Nuechterlein in 1979, the Weinberger Doctrine, and the decisive force principle of General Colin Powell, the author analyzes the appropriateness of using military force in the Gulf War, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq and discusses whether decision makers met some or all of this criteria.
