This paper discusses the disorder cretinism (otherwise known as congenital hypothyroidism), in particular: the endocrine gland responsible for the disorder, the location of the gland, the glandÂ’s normal function, the hormone involved in the disorder, and the target organ for the hormone. The symptoms of the disease, and the treatments are also discussed, as is the outlook for the life of a person with cretinism.
