This paper looks at how the advent of the Bubonic plague in the middle ages inspired a number of changes in the way we view society, and our lifestyle. In particular we examine the literature of Thomas More and Francis Bacon, among others in an effort to see how different their viewpoints of Utopia were from life as a reality at that time. Without the advent of the plague these concepts and ideals would have never materialized.
