This paper will amount to a postmodern critique of Women in Development (WID). Women in Development refer to any international efforts that attempt to modernize the Third World and allow those efforts to "trickle down" to women. This critique will draw on postmodern analysis to argue that any attempts to modernize the Third World only reinforce hierarchies established under colonialism.
