This four page undergraduate essay examines Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's allegorical work, Faust. The author notes that Faust is Everyman, for he seeks nothing less than solving the riddle of life, and longs to understand the fundamental realities of human existence, but he is constantly frustrated and dissatisfied by the apparent human limitations of attaining those goals, just as each of us are as we struggle to decipher the riddles our lives present us.
