Walking Between Worlds: J.F. Coopers Last of the Mohicans
This paper examines The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper, with particular attention paid to the manner in which the novel can function as a useful representation of the events that occurred along the early American frontier in the 18th century. Specifically, the paper analyzes the way in which the novel deconstructs the binary that exists between the civilized and the savage, separated by the thin line of the frontier.
