In this paper, we will investigate the origins of music and how it relates to human evolution. Though this is a wide topic, we will attempt to show how human evolution and the origins of music are intrinsically tied together. Since this field of inquiry is a relatively new phenomena growing out of the post-modern sprit of interdisciplinary studies, it seems important to consider the way in which this field of study has begun to take shape in the past twenty years. Through understanding the birth of this field of inquiry, we can more clearly understand the knowledge, which it gives to the world.
