This paper considers the philosophical arguments about identity and how to determine it, comparing the views of Searle and Frege, noting how the question of identity has been approached from a variety of perspectives, and philosophy addresses the issue in terms of the way we perceive the outside world, how we differentiate between ourselves and the outside world, and how we find meaning in our sense of self.
