Religious Pluralism and Some of Its Epistemological Challenges

"Religious pluralism has offered epistemological challenges to Westerners, and in particular the Christian and Jewish religions have always presumed that their basic assertions are factual. Twentieth century Positivism can be seen as having taken effort away from verification in favour of other philosophical approaches that tend to place much more importance on what it is that a religion or a religious belief may represent, or what it means to the believer. For instance, in the early 21st century, it could seem much more significant what belief meant within human experience, than the sheer existence or nature of God, or other rather timeless arguments. In this paper, different approaches seem to reveal that religious pluralism and its effects upon epistemology actually have much to do with the surrounding environment, and how human beings chose to respond to it." 13 pgs. 7 sources.
