Hannah Arendt published one of her most controversial essays in her 1961 book “Between Past and Future.” In "What Is Authority”, “What is Freedom?" Arendt argued against the Western world’s view of liberty. She didn’t believe freedom represented the ability of an individual to attain their desires. Actually, Ardent didn’t think that personal desire or the achievement of one’s goals signified human liberty at all.
