This paper presents a basic position through which the status of the United States can be examined in comparison to other democratic nations. This paper takes the position that America perceives itself as secure in the international community, but other countries are asking the United States to explore its actions. There is a brief historical discussion of differences in conflict philosophies between the EU and NATO.
