This three page undergraduate paper examines human race issues. The author notes that the scientific term, “homo sapiens,” defines our species, but we generally refer to ourselves as the human race, which is an all inclusive term that does not distinguish between the various races and ethnicities that comprise humanity. Unfortunately, many people identify with their own particular race and fail to appreciate that all races are little more than subsets of the human race. In spite of the traits and characteristics we all share together as a species, the human race has been plagued for thousands of years by real or perceived racial distinctions, and by the racism and prejudice that result from these distinctions.
