In more specific terms, identity theft involves the fraudulent use of a Social Security number, bank account or credit card number, telephone calling card number, or other valuable identifying data in order to remove funds out of the victimÂ’s bank or financial accounts, or to use their credit card accounts to fraudulently charge merchandise.
